Grown on the trunk of the evergreen “Brazilian grape tree,” Jabuticaba is a rare purplish-black edible fruit with white pulp. Its rich antioxidant content, specifically Anthocyanins, is the main factor to the fruit’s very dark-purple skin.* It has been cultivated for many years since the pre-Columbian times, and is a commercial crop in today’s market. Considered as one of Brazil’s favorite fruits, Jabuticaba is typically eaten raw or utilized to make jellies, juice, wine, and many forms of desserts.
